Question to the Leader : 2024/02 - Leader and Lliswerry Ward Visit

Minutes:

Councillor M Howells asked:

At the last council meeting on 23rd January, as part of the debate on item 7 – Council Tax premiums, the leader stated,

“As the leader of the authority I actually go out into the wards with my ward members. I walk around their wards, they point out some of the challenges they face and we talk about what can we do together to address these challenges because of course, that’s what we are here for.”

We haven’t had the chance to meet the Leader in the Lliswerry Ward yet so that we can point out some of the challenges that the biggest ward in Newport faces. We would therefore like to invite the leader to our ward as soon her diary allows.

Will the leader agree to visit the ward with us so we can “point out some of the challenges we face and talk about what can we do together to address these challenges?”

Councillor Mudd responded:

As I am sure you will appreciate, as Leader of the Council I receive many requests for me to attend events and meetings.  Whilst I am unable to accept every invitation, I attempt to attend as many as possible.  All such requests are managed through the Leaders Office so that they can be considered and scheduled accordingly, depending on my availability. I would therefore ask that you make your request through the Leaders Office mailbox so that it can be given consideration alongside the other events I am required to attend.
