Can you tell me if there are any plans to introduce congestion charging in Newport?

Councillor Lacey responded:

The council have no plans to introduce a congestion charge in Newport.

N.B. This question was allocated to Councillor Forsey, but congestion charges could only be applied through a local scheme under the Transport Act, which would require Welsh Government consent and Regulations.

Therefore, it is a transport matter which comes within the responsibility of the Cabinet Member for Infrastructure and Assets, Councillor Lacey.
