Can the Cabinet Member for climate change tell me how she plans to further improve recycling rates in the city?
Councillor Forsey responded:
With a recycling rate of 67.1%, Newport City Council is currently ahead of the Welsh statutory recycling targets and is the best recycling city in the UK.
The Council approved its current Waste Strategy in February 2020. This document outlines the overall vision and priorities, but also the specific objectives and actions agreed to ensure the Council meets the recycling targets.
The waste team will continue to work hard to implement all actions and monitor progress and performance accordingly.
