Question to the Leader of the Council: 2020/11 - Kingsway Car Park

In July 2019 Cabinet received an oral confidential presentation and agreed to take on the lease of the Kingsway car park for 35 years at a rent of £215k pa index linked.

 

As this lease is now operating will you publish the business case. Is it a full repairing lease and does this come with a service contract, or is this included?

 

The Leader of the Council responded:

 

The purpose of the lease was the generation of surplus income of £200K from taking over the operation of the car park.  This business case was part of the MTFP agreed by cabinet and full council in February.

 

The lease is full repairing. The are multiple service contracts in place that have novated across.  However the day to date operation will be absorbed into the council existing car park operations and the asset management will be  carried out  by Norse.
