Question to the Cabinet Member for Education & Skills: Planned Expansion of Rogerstone Primary School

Minutes:

Councillor Chris Evans asked:

Dear Cabinet Member, with regards to the planned expansion of Rogerstone Primary School, can you tell me what plans are going to put in place to address the parking chaos around the school? More children, will mean more cars impacting negatively of the local community, will you allocate extra funds for transport to school and look at funding a campaign to make parents aware of the impact of dangerous parking outside the school? Can you tell me what meetings your officers may have had to consider and address the parking chaos around the school and what action you have instructed to be taken?

The Cabinet Member for Education & Skills responded:

Whilst the 21st Century Schools Band B programme includes a commitment to expand Rogerstone Primary School from 2 form entry to 3 form entry, detailed plans have yet to be drawn up.  As the project progresses, a feasibility study will be undertaken, which will include proposals for pupil drop-off and collection.   There are currently no plans to change the Council’s Home to School Transport policy.
