Question to the Cabinet Member for Education and Skills: 2018/14 - Secondary School Places

Minutes:

Councillor David Fouweather asked:

In the response that I received from the cabinet member re expanding primary school places putting pressure on secondary school places the answer leads me to believe that there really isn’t any appetite for a new welsh medium primary school as this would add to the pressure of the new secondary school.

Therefore can the cabinet member explain to me in detail how she plans to manage the overall situation.  Will there be a new welsh medium primary school built within the life time of this administration.

Councillor Gail Giles responded:

The Council is committed to establishing a fourth Welsh-medium primary school from September 2020.

Work will continue, via the Planning of School Places group, to monitor demand for Welsh-medium provision across all sectors, reporting as appropriate to the People’s Services Capital Programme
