The Chief Executive gave an overview of the report.

Comments and recommendations:

• The Committee recommended that the executive summary should be put before the tables and that the public engagement page feature earlier in the report.
• The Committee recommended that further clarification on the differences between RAG ratings for strategic priorities and the risk register be included in the report.
• The Committee recommended highlighting the challenges the Council faces within Wellbeing Objective 1 Strategic Priority 8.
• The Committee recommended including more information in Newport Matters, signposting residents to appropriate Newport City Council services and information.
• The Committee highlighted their contentment with executive reports with appendices and links for specific information.
• The Committee were content with the report.

The Head of People, Policy and Transformation introduced the report and the Senior Equalities Officer, and Policy and Partnership Manager presented the report to the Committee.

Comments and recommendations:

• The Committee were content to receive a report from the Strategic Director regarding education data.
• The Committee highlighted the importance of celebrating International Men’s Day.
• The Committee requested the Gender Pay Gap Report and Pay Policy be forwarded to Committee.
• The Committee were content with the report.

1. Actions Arising

·       The Scrutiny Adviser informed the Committee that the query regarding comparisons of scrutiny arrangements in local authorities will be presented to the Committee as an information report.

2. Forward Work Programme

·       The Scrutiny Adviser informed the Committee that the next meeting on the 27^th September 2024 had no substantive items scheduled. The Committee agreed to cancel the meeting.  

3. Outcomes Monitoring

·       The Scrutiny Adviser informed the Committee that the responses were shown in the table.
